I provide one-on-one equine sessions, helping people better understand their emotions and navigate safely in the world.
People may feel that being in a therapist’s office and talking face to face with another person isn’t working for them.
Equine therapy usually places people in a new environment.
Being in the countryside with an animal that has no pre concived ideas about you can be a fresh approach.
Emmersing yourself in the outdoors and interacting with the horses puts you in a fresh head space.
I will encourage you to listen to your emotions and observe the reactions of the horse in a safe space.
Fredspace promotes emotional intelligence, teaching us that emotions are just information that we can learn from. We can use the feelings inside us to navigate our lives in a more positive and effective way.
When people notice what triggers their emotions, they can begin to discover the message behind the emotion. Once the client has accepted this emotion purely as information and not attached a good or bad label to it, they can move on.
The emotion has not disappeared but the behaviour towards this emotion has changed, and the client now has the tools to be able to deal with it.
By exploring how we connect to the horse, we can discover who we are and how we can live our lives congruently.
I used to work in a busy advertising firm in London. I thought this would be my career for life and it took me and my family moving to Denmark for me to finally leave the security of a job I loved.
While living in Denmark I learnt to love the simpler things in life, spending time with my family on our small farm. When we returned to England, I wanted to recreate our life in Denmark in the English countryside. I trained with IFEEL, in Equine Facilitated Human Development in 2021.
I also worked at a pupil referral unit specialising in one-to-one mentoring of 8–18-year-olds in an outdoor environment. I now split my time working as a groom at Riding for the Disabled and running my own Equine Facilitated Human Development centre in Malmesbury.
