I trained with IFEEL, which I believe is the most validated course in the UK. IFEEL is supported and audited by the Crossfield’s institute.
The IFEEL Method trains facilitators to have a deep level of understanding in psychological human and equine development.
In addition to this, students learn facilitation skills, horsemanship techniques, and mind-body awareness so they can facilitate clients to work through problems and difficulties with the support of a horse.
I do not endorse any specific horsemanship technique but use aspects of many, and always prioritises the horses’ welfare.
Without the partnership of the horse, the Equine Facilitated Human Development (EFHD) process cannot take place effectively and therefore would not benefit the client.
As a qualified facilitator I am there to identify and develop my clients’ trust with themselves and others.
Together with the horse, we can uncover old behaviours that appear in-bedded in us but are no longer effective.
We can begin to establish fresh ways of thinking, expanding our self-worth and confidence.
I provide an experiential, supportive, and safe environment for clients. We use the horse as a guide to help the clients’ steer towards a truer self-image of themselves.
I always work in the here and now. I don’t delve into to the past or speculate on the future.
I focus on what the client is feeling in the moment and how they and the horse responds to these situations.
I qualified as an Equine Facilitator with IFEEL in 2021. I work with clients on our small farm in Wiltshire. We have three horses, and a variety of other small animals that live with me and my family.
I have worked at a pupil referral unit that specialises in one-on-one mentoring in an outdoor environment.
I truly believe in the benefits of spending time outside. I believe people’s expectations and hopes are much more positive when they spend time outdoors, rather than in a room, sitting down.
The combination of the outdoor environment and the horse (which has no expectations on the person) takes the focus away from the client and can immediately put them in a more relaxed place.
